Solaire Resort Names McCreery COO amid Reshuffle

Solaire Resort Entertainment City in Manila has appointed former Sands China executive Sean McCreery as its new Chief Operating Officer. McCreery confirmed the appointment via a social media update, and officially took up the role at Solaire earlier this month.

His arrival adds another senior appointment to Bloomberry Resorts Corp’s evolving leadership structure, which has undergone significant changes over the past 18 months. The executive shake-up includes several high-profile layoffs and new appointments across the group’s integrated resort operations in the Philippines.

McCreery’s move follows his decade-long tenure at Sands China Ltd, where he most recently served as Executive Vice President for Operations. According to Inside Asian Gaming, he is leaving the Macau-based operator at the end of 2025, with Sands China noting at the time that he would “Starting a new chapter in his career.”

His broader industry background also includes experience with Crown Melbourne in Australia, adding regional operational expertise to the Solaire management team at a time of increasing competition and market pressure.

Management restructuring underway at Bloomberry

The appointments come during a broader reorganization within Bloomberry Resorts Corp. The company has undergone several senior leadership changes across its portfolio, including Solaire Resort Entertainment City and Solaire Resort North.

Previous adjustments included the departure of former President and COO Tom Arasi, who was later replaced by Greg Hawkins. In parallel, Cyrus Sherafat stepped down from his role as Executive Vice President and Head of Gaming, subsequently moving to Wynn Al Marjan Island in the UAE.

At Solaire Resort North, Damian Quayle was appointed COO last year, bringing additional operational oversight in addition to Hawkins’ leadership role within the group.

The shift reflects Bloomberry’s ongoing efforts to recalibrate its executive structure across its Manila-based integrated resort properties as the company faces a more challenging operational environment.

Market pressures are weighing on the Philippines’ integrated resorts

McCreery’s appointment also comes at a difficult time for Manila’s casino and resort sector. Operators in the region has faced a decline in VIP trafficespecially from key source markets such as South Korea and China. External geopolitical tensions have further contributed to weakening consumer spending in the Philippines’ gambling and tourism sectors.

Despite efforts to diversify revenue streams through digital initiatives, including the Solaire Online platform and the newer FUNaloMAX brand, Bloomberry continues to experience financial pressure.

For the first quarter of 2026, the company reported a net loss of approximately PHP125 million (US$2.0 million). This follows a 13% year-on-year decline in gross gaming revenue, which fell to PHP16.8 billion (US$273 million). Solaire Resort Entertainment City itself recorded an 18% decline in gross gaming revenue to PHP10.0 billion (US$162 million).

In a separate filing, Bloomberry also reported that net revenue fell 8.8% year-over-year to just under PHP13.10 billion in the same period.
